Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading and directing the construction phase of the project, while acting as liaison between the project team, owner, contractor, consultants and all authorities having jurisdiction over the project.

  • Periodically review and monitor the preparation of Construction Documents for clarity, consistency, constructability, conformance to construction budget, and coordination.
  • Attend exterior wall review meetings and others when appropriate.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the bidding and negotiation phase.


  • Manage the construction phase of the project as defined in the contract between the owner and architect, including construction observation, construction change directives and document interpretation.
  • Represent the office as the primary contact with the owner and contractor on construction-related issues.
  • Provide construction reports on all site visits and construction meetings.
  • Manage and direct project team members on site visits, construction issues, document interpretations and project close-out.
  • Monitor shop drawing and bulletin status for timely review and processing.
  • Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process for timely review and response.
  • Review and approve pay applications, change orders and changes to the construction contract amount.
  • Manage and direct project team members on punchlist and project close-out documentation called for in the contract.
  • Establish and issue Certificate of Substantial Completion date and paperwork.
  • Internally track and monitor RFI and change orders per established office procedures.
  • Keep Principal-in-Charge, Project Manager and Team Leaders informed of construction-related issues including progress of construction.
  • Ensure field feedback is incorporated into the improvement of office procedures and standards.
  • Act as fiduciary for the owner and remain a fair interpreter of the contract documents and seek optimum method of dispute resolution when needed.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and licensure highly recommended.
  • LEED Accredited preferred.
  • Minimum ten years' of professional experience with extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional services from schematic design through project close-out, including design and technical expertise.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the coordination aspects and related requirements of all design disciplines.
  • Detailed knowledge of the construction process.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
  • Possess the ability to motivate and mentor staff.
  • Very detail oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations.
  • Possess strong business acumen.
  • A senior level position, highly visible to clients and employees that requires maturity assertiveness, integrity and the ability to lead, influence and persuade.
  • Computer literate.

  • Capable of traveling to and from project sites for attending client, project and construction meetings.
  • Ability to access existing and new project sites for observation, investigation and evaluation purposes.
  • Ability to use office equipment for communication and documentation purposes.
